3 Quick Tips for Simplifying Skincare Routines
We all want to get the most out of our daily skin care routines, but we sometimes need to make it quick and easy. That does not mean you need to make any sacrifice, just that you want to get in and out without anyone getting hurt!
There are three basics that we need to incorporate into our skin care routine, you can add additional steps if you like, but these are the three critical steps needed on a daily basis.
Cleanse- Be sure to wash your face daily. It is recommended to cleanse your face twice a day. Believe it or not - bacteria builds up on your skin when you sleep at night, and you want to start your day washing all that off and having a clean start. We wash our face at night to clean off the makeup, dirt and again, bacteria so that we start our night clean and fresh. In the morning, you have been resting your face on sheets and pillows that can have dirt and dust on them.
Choosing to cleanse before bedtime may prevent breakouts. Especially if your skin is sensitive; wash your face with your hands while using a mild soap. This will decrease the possibility of irritation, which can worsen acne-prone skin. If you love putting on your makeup in the morning, be sure to take it off at night. There are many glands around the eyelids and eyelashes, which can lead to irritated, red eyes if you do not properly clean it off your skin at night, at very least.
Toning- There are many reasons why someone will have an uneven skin tone, and the first step to correct it lies in finding out the cause. Some reasons include pimple marks, using certain medications that deal with hormones, and skin inflammation. Many dermatologists say that we should exfoliate once a week. This will remove any last traces of dirt, grime and impurities stuck in your pores after you have washed your face. When used regularly it can have a positive impact on the appearance and tightness of your pores. Depending on your individual skin type and the reason why unevenness exists, you may need either a chemical exfoliant, physical, or both.
Moisturize- Your skin is made up of 64% water, which makes it easy to realize that drinking water can have a positive impact on your skin. While it will not make everything perfect, it is certainly better than doing nothing. Water helps with digestion, circulation, absorption, and ridding the body of toxins. A study in 2007 showed that drinking 9.5 cups of water per day for 4 weeks can alter skin density and thickness. Therefore, your skin will have better elasticity and plumpness. With this boost of hydration, you may not have as many cracks, irritations, or blemishes.
Moisture in your skin helps it repair itself constantly. Without the right balance your skin is not itself. Leaving moisturizer out of your routine today, could lead to deeper wrinkles later on. During the day, not only do you want to use a moisturizer because it will help you have softer skin with more elasticity, you will want to use sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun's damaging rays. A nighttime moisturizer helps to undo the damage done to your skin during the day along with boosting collagen and better blood circulation.
